Colour Play
Mesmerised by the radiant light paintings of artist Stephen Knapp, this collection is an effort by the designers to capture the essence of his skill, craft & art through the media of their signature hand-crafted techniques.
Breaking light into a multitude of colours that vibrate in layers and create fantastical visuals. This collection offers a choreography of shadows, textures and layering of hues to create areas of interest amongst the overall visual feast, translated onto the especially hand-crafted textiles through the blending of natural fires and with the usage of the ancient craft of resist dyeing.
The richness of natural hand-crafted fabrics is accentuated with the lustre of silk against the matte qualities of cotton and wool giving rise to fine textiles with a variety of textures. The juxtaposition of shapes and hues to create new colours broken away from white and in the presence of black is done through the tedious hand techniques of shibori. Hand-crafted bead and thread embroidery along with pleat and pin tuck details add to the element of fun through colour and pattern with a controlled randomness.
The collection channelizes the timeless grace of the hand-made into garments that are easy, versatile, modern and evocative.
